On May 13, 2025, VinUniversity (VinUni) and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies (HIDS) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishing a strategic partnership to accelerate the green transformation of New Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas. This collaboration marks a pivotal step toward building a smarter, greener, and more sustainable urban future.
The signing ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Phan Thi Thuc Anh – Director of the Agile Innovation Center, and Dr. Pham Binh An – Deputy Director of HIDS. Under the agreement, both sides will collaborate across multiple domains, including scientific research, technology consulting and application, academic events, professional training, and knowledge exchange.
A highlight of the partnership is the joint implementation of the Green Transformation Master Plans for Ho Chi Minh City – Can Gio – Con Dao. Positioned as a flagship program for 2025, the initiative aims to promote sustainable urban development and protect the ecosystems of climate-sensitive regions. The project is expected to generate positive environmental impacts and inspire a green living mindset within the community.
After the signing ceremony, a scientific seminar titled “Key Pillars for Green Transformation in New Ho Chi Minh City” was held. The seminar convened leading scholars, researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to exchange multi-dimensional perspectives on the city’s green transformation strategy in the context of expanding administrative boundaries to include neighboring provinces such as Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
With its strengths in interdisciplinary research and practical implementation experience, VinUni is pcommitted to working closely with HIDS on in-depth activities that contribute to making New Ho Chi Minh City a national model for sustainable growth and a more livable urban environment for generations to come.
