Transportation

Guided by our Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action Policy on Sustainable Transportation, VinUniversity is committed to reducing carbon emissions from daily commuting and campus mobility through a combination of electric vehicle infrastructure, smart charging technology, and pedestrian-first campus design. By making low-carbon transportation the most accessible and attractive choice for our community, we aim to demonstrate that sustainable mobility is practical, scalable, and integral to Vietnam’s green future.

Programs

Advancing Sustainable Electric Vehicle Charging through Green Infrastructure and Smart Charging Techniques” Project at Center for Environmental Intelligence (CEI) addresses rising greenhouse gas emissions by promoting sustainable EV adoption through renewable-powered charging stations with total fund of $295,000. It develops a green charging station testbed using solar, wind, and battery storage, alongside a digital twin model for performance optimization. Three station types – Fixed, Flexible, and Robot – are designed for various use cases, including campuses, urban hotspots, and remote areas. AI and IoT technologies enhance energy efficiency, demand forecasting, and grid independence. The Nha Trang Green Transformation initiative supports deployment, proposing 20 new charging points optimized via digital twin simulations to manage energy use and reduce CO₂ emissions in real time.

At VinUniversity, we are committed to building a greener campus by encouraging our community to switch from gasoline to electric vehicles. Through this initiative, faculty and staff receive exclusive discounts when purchasing EVs, have access to free on-campus electric vehicle charging stations, and benefit from prioritized parking spaces for electric cars. These efforts are part of our broader sustainability strategy, aiming to reduce carbon emissions, support eco-friendly choices, and create a healthier environment for all VinUniversity students.
