Awards and Highlights
ESG Business Awards 2025
VinUniversity is honored to receive the ESG Business Awards 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, winning in two categories: Collaborative Partnership and Cross-sector Collaboration for Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Green Transition Project, led by VinUni’s Smart Green Transformation Center (GREEN-X). The project brought together over 50 experts from VinUni, University of Oxford, Duke University, and the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) with local authorities to develop the Master Plan for Green Transition, which is now officially approved and implemented by Khanh Hoa provincial government. The initiative has directly impacted 1.2 million residents and 11,000 businesses through ESG training for over 100 officials and practical solutions for green lifestyles, sustainable tourism, and transportation. This transformative model has expanded to Binh Dinh and Ho Chi Minh City, demonstrating VinUni’s pioneering role in advancing Vietnam’s Net Zero commitment and sustainable development.
2023 Excellence in Sustainability Award by ISCN
The VinUni–Illinois Smart Health Center’s (VISHC) initiative to develop and provide low-cost and accessible digital healthcare solutions on a global scale has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Excellence in Sustainability Award by ISCN (International Sustainable Campus Network).
With VISHC’s “Initiative to develop and provide accessible smart healthcare solutions on a global scale“, VinUni has become the first Vietnamese university to receive this prestigious award. This project is a collaboration between VinUni and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC, USA). The project seeks to address major challenges in the global public health sector, towards achieving sustainable development goals. The initiative finances ten collaborative research projects in data science, artificial intelligence, biosensors, informatics, and smart healthcare applications. VISHC has invested a total of 13.5 million USD in biotechnology and digital healthcare projects, which will provide solutions to monitor and improve the health of people around the globe.
VIETNAM'S FIRST UNESCO CHAIR
VinUniversity has been appointed as Vietnam’s first UNESCO Chair, focusing on Environmental Leadership, Cultural Heritage, and Biodiversity. This marks a significant milestone of VinUniversity in enhancing research capacity and international collaboration. Through integrated research, teaching, and community engagement, we aim to preserve cultural heritage, document biodiversity, and promote sustainable development, positioning Vietnam as a regional hub for innovation and conservation.

MISSION
Sustainability Committee was established with the mission of guiding VinUni towards a holistic sustainability development strategy and plan. Focusing on developing and implementing Sustainability strategies based on all facets of the University: education, research, governance, operations, and community engagement, the Sustainability Committee plays a crucial role in raising awareness, buiding the Green culture and implementing sustainability best practices within VinUni campus and the society.
