Water

Water is a precious resource, and we are dedicated to reducing consumption and implementing sustainable water management practices across campus. Our initiatives focus on minimizing waste while promoting responsible water use.

  • Sustainable landscaping: Use drought-resistant plants and smart irrigation systems in landscaping to minimize water use and maintain green spaces sustainably.
  • Rainwater harvesting: Develop rainwater collection systems to capture and utilize rainwater for non-potable uses, such as irrigation and cooling.
  • Water conservation campaigns: Raise awareness about water conservation through workshops, educational programs, and signage around campus to encourage responsible water use.
  • Leak detection and maintenance: Implement regular inspections and maintenance procedures to quickly detect and repair leaks, reducing wasted water.

Programs

VinUniversity’s three-stage wastewater treatment system performs preliminary treatment of all the university’s wastewater before it is transferred to the centralized treatment system of Vinhomes. With an average treatment capacity of 2,566 m³ per month, the system treated nearly 31,000 m³ of wastewater in 2023-2024. This process ensures that the wastewater from VinUniversity meets environmental standards, minimizes ecological impact on water sources, and contributes to maintaining the quality of water in the area.”

VinUniversity’s irrigation system entirely uses river water to care for the greenery on campus, instead of treated clean water. With an irrigation volume of approximately 600 m³ per month (equivalent to 7,000 m³ per year), this system helps conserve water resources, reduce pressure on urban clean water supply, and create a sustainable green ecological environment. Utilizing natural water sources also allows the university to save about 100 million VND in annual costs.”
