Sustainability-Related Courses in the Curriculum

As an AASHE member, VinUniversity follows the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) to categorize sustainability-related courses:
- A sustainability-focused course is a course with primary and explicit focus on the integrated concept of sustainability and/or the interdependence of ecological and social/cultural/economic systems.
- A sustainability-inclusive course is a course that primarily focus on something other than sustainability, but clearly incorporates sustainability content or addresses one or more sustainability challenges. Often includes a unit or module on sustainability, includes one or more sustainability-focused readings or activities, or integrates sustainability challenges throughout the course.
Across all four colleges, VinUniversity offers 285 sustainability-related courses spanning topics from renewable energy and environmental science to public policy, gender equality, healthcare, and responsible business in the academic year 2025-2026.
Depending on the specific study program, undergraduates are required to complete between 10 and 51 sustainability-related courses to fulfill their graduation requirements, ensuring that every graduate develops awareness of social and environmental responsibilities alongside their disciplinary expertise.
