UNESCO Chair

VinUniversity holds Vietnam’s first UNESCO Chair, focusing on Environmental Leadership, Cultural Heritage, and Biodiversity. Through integrated research, teaching, and community engagement, the Chair preserves endangered cultural heritage, documents biodiversity, and promotes sustainable development across Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region. The Bahnar Cultural and Language Preservation Project (2024–2028), led by Prof. K. David Harrison, won the Human Act Prize 2024 for its work documenting and revitalizing Bahnar indigenous knowledge — responding to UNESCO’s warning that half of the world’s languages may disappear by the end of this century.
